Wagashi

These are wagashi.

Wagashi is general term for characteristically Japanese confectionery.

They are made in the shape of spring flowers and plants.

Left ..." wakaba "
"wakaba" is young leaf.

Center ... "takenoko"
"takenoko" is bamboo shoot.

Right ..."iwanetsutusji"
"iwane" is rock and "tsutsuji"is zalea .

wagashi is beautiful and delicious.
I love !

We have the Doll Festival on April 3 in Matsue.
It's the day to pray for healthy growth and happiness for young girls.
It's also called Momo-no-Sekku or Peach festival.

Hanamochi ( peach blossom shaped rice cakes) are special foods for Momo-no-Sekku in Matsue.
